Abstract
Objective: The present study was conducted to investigate the expression of vaspin, GRP78, CD51, and EGFL7 genes in the heart tissue of type 2 diabetic rats for eight weeks.
Methodology: For this study, 24 male white Wistar rats were randomly assigned to three groups. The groups included: healthy control, diabetic control group, and diabetes+HIIT group. Fasting blood glucose was measured two weeks after STZ injection; and rats with FBG levels above 126 mg/dL were entered as diabetic rats. The HIIT protocol was performed for eight weeks and three sessions per week. At the end of the eighth week and 48 hours after the last training session, samples were taken from the heart fat tissue. The expression genes was examined by Real-time PCR. One-way ANOVA and Tukey's post hoc test were used to analyze the data, at a significance level of P≤0.05.
Results: The findings showed that after eight weeks of HIIT training, a significant difference was observed between the expression of the vaspin gene between the groups(P=0.001). The results also showed a significant change in the expression of the GRP78 gene between the groups after eight weeks of HIIT training(P=0.003). After eight weeks, a significant difference was also observed between the expression of CD51 and EGFL7 between the groups(P=0.006 and P=0.006, respectively).
Conclusion: Therefore, considering the importance of changes in the levels of vaspin, GRP78, CD51, and EGFL7, it seems that these patients should perform HIIIT exercises for a longer period of time to effectively benefit from it.
