[English]

Research Aim: MCJ protein expression in the liver, as one of the indicators of cellular and metabolic function, is influenced by various factors, including physical exercises and diet. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of 8 weeks of intense intermittent exercise on male Wistar rats.
Research Method:
In this experimental study, 28 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups: high-intensity interval training (HIIT), HIIT combined with fast diet, FAST, and control. Data were reported using descriptive indicators as mean and standard deviation, and the Shapiro-Wilk test was used to check the normality of the data. Then, one-way ANOVA and Bonferroni post hoc tests were used to analyze the differences between groups.
Findings:
The results of the ANOVA test showed that high-intensity interval training (HIIT) had a significant effect on the level of hepatic MCJ protein (F=15.520 p=0.001). Also, combining HIIT with a fasting diet showed a significant effect on increasing the level of hepatic MCJ protein (F=31.167 p<0.001). In contrast, fasting alone had no significant effect on MCJ protein (p=0.186) (F=1.879). The findings of this study indicate that high-intensity interval training significantly increases the expression of MCJ protein in the liver of male Wistar rats, and combining this exercise with a fasting diet enhances this effect. On the other hand, fasting alone had no significant effect on the expression of this protein. Therefore, training programs including HIIT may be effective in improving liver function and increasing the expression of proteins related to metabolism.
