Introduction: This study aims to explore the impact of aerobic exercise and green tea extract consumption on cardiac prognostic markers in men diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.Method: The study involved 32 male participants with type 2 diabetes, aged 50 ± 10.9 years, divided into four groups: 1) green tea (GT), 2) green tea combined with aerobic training (GT+AT), 3) placebo (PL), and 4) placebo combined with aerobic training (PL+AT). Over an 8-week period, the AT protocol was performed for 60 minutes at an intensity of 55-65% of maximum heart rate (MHR) on a treadmill. Green tea extract was consumed at a dosage of 800 mg daily. Serum levels of cardiac markers, including GDF-15 and NT-proBNP, were assessed through blood sampling before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using ANOVA with repeated measures and Bonferroni's post hoc test.Results: The results indicated a significant decrease in serum levels of GDF-15 and NT-proBNP in the post-test compared to the pre-test in the GT, GT+AT, and PL+AT groups (P

Introduction: In this study, the effect of aerobic training supplemented with hydro-alcoholic extract of Vaccinium Arctostaphylos fruit on oxidative stress and the antioxidant defense system of the heart tissue of rats was investigated.Methods: 24 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups: 1-healthy control, 2-supplementation, 3-training, and 4-supplementation and training. Rats in the supplement groups received 250 mg of fruit Vaccinium Arctostaphylos per kg of body weight in the form of oral gavage. Aerobic training protocol included running on a treadmill at a speed of 5-24 m/min for 10-60 minutes for eight weeks, five days a week, with the principle of overload. Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the Effects of aerobic training and High Fat Diet on the Gene Expression of Bax and Bcl-2 in the myocardium of adolescent male rats. Methods: forty young male rats (30 days old) randomized in normal diet control (NDC), normal diet training (NDT), high fat diet control (HFDC) and high fat diet training (HFDT) groups. HFD rats followed high fat regimen (5.817 kcal/g) for 30 days and the normal fat diet (3.801 kcal/g) was continued following to the 60th day of birth. Aerobic training was conducted for four weeks included on three training sessions from the 70th to 98th days of life. Results: Our findings showed that in HFD groups the expression of Bax protein (from the apoptotic susceptible protein family) was increased and exercise was quite effective in preventing this increase. Instead, the high-fat diet caused a (but brief and insignificant) decrease in the expression of the BCL2 protein (from the family of anti-apoptotic proteins), although the effect of exercise and high-fat diet was not significant. Also, High fat diet increased the ratio of Bax protein expression to BCL2 protein expression (as an index of overall outcome reflecting , while training was well able to prevent this increase. Conclusion: Overall, based on the results of this study, we conclude that consumption of high fat diet may also induce cardiac apoptosis even in adolescence and in addition to good physical activity in neutralizing these adverse effects of high fat diet is helpful.

Aim: Background: The liver xα receptor (LXRα) participates in glucose metabolism. On the other hand, glucose transfer in liver by glucose transporter 2 (GLUT2). Therefore, this study was designed to examine the changes of LXRα, GLUT2 genes expression in liver and insulin resistance after 8 weeks of aerobic training in type 2 diabetic rats. Method: Eighteen male 8-weeks-old Wistar rats were selected as research sample. Diabetes was induced by nicotinamide and streptozotocin. Five days after diabetes induction, fasting blood glucose was measured using blood glucose strips. Rats with fasting blood glucose between 126-400 mg were selected as diabetic. Rats were divided into two groups: control and training. The training program was running with the speed of 10–25 m/min for 15-40 min/day, 5% slope, 5 days a week for 8 weeks. Results: Diabetes induction resulted in significant increase in body weight (p=0.001). Training group had higher muscle weight (p=0.001) and HbA1c (p=0.001) but lower glucose (p=0. 001), insulin (p=0.002) and insulin resistance index (p=0.002). LXRα and GLUT2 gene expressions were not different significantly. Conclusion: It seems that 8 weeks aerobic training with 60-80% of vo2max can induce some positive metabolic changes in diabetic rats but did not induce any significant changes in LXRα and GLUT2 genes expression in liver tissue.

Aim: Nowadays the effect of physical exercise on diabetes control improvement is evident and the both insulin release and function depends on magnesium (Mg) and Mg even improves insulin sensitivity. However; diabetes causes hypomagnesiumemia which in turn worsens glycemic control in a viscous cycle. Likewise; little is known about the synchronized effects of exercise training along with Mg supplementation on diabetes control. Therefore; the aim of this study was to investigate the synergistic effects from eight weeks of aerobic training and magnesium supplementation on metabolic control, blood insulin and glycosylated Hb (A1C) and Mg levels in female patients with type II diabetes. Method: This study was done based on an experimental method using a pretest-posttest design. Thirty volunteer midlife type II diabetic females were randomized into training-Mg, training-placebo and control groups. The subjects consumed magnesium oxide or amylose containing pills (250 mg) once daily in a double blind order for eight weeks. The training groups also experienced eight weeks of moderate intensity aerobic training (3 sessions/week running for 60 min in each session at 40 to 60% of THR). Fasting blood samples were taken at two occasions between 8 to 9 am; baseline and after the intervention and the data were analyzed using paired samples t test and one way ANOVA at 95% significance level. Results: 30% of the subjects had hypomagnesiumemia at baseline. Blood Mg was just elevated in the training-Mg group throughout the intervention (P<0.05). However; blood glucose, insulin, A1C, TG, waist circumference and blood pressure were all declined in both the training groups (P<0.05). Additionally, there were greater depressions in blood glucose and insulin levels of the training-Mg group rather than training placebo group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Aerobic training and synchronized Mg supplementation could provide a better diabetes control along with other therapeutic proceedings.

Aim: The worldwide obesity epidemic has produced profound effects on public health. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of aerobic training with orlistat on insulin resistance and lipid profile in obese men. Method: Forty-eight obese males (Age: 21.56±2.14, Wehght: 103.53±9.44, BMI: 33.9±3.21) participated in this study. The subjects were randomizly divided into four groups: orlistat (O, n=12), exercise (E, n=12), orlistat plus exercise (OE, n=12) and control (C, n=12). Subject in all groups adjusted based on age, height, weight, body mass index and aerobic capacity. Subjects in OE and O groups were consumed three 120 mg orlistat capsules after each meal and for eight weeks. Subjects in OE and E groupps conduct exercise protocol 3 times a week and for 8 weeks. Before and after the exercise program, insulin, glucose, lipid profile, food intake and maximum aerobic power was measured. In statistical analysis, descriptive statistics, paired t-test, one way ANOVA and Tukey post hoc test was used. All data were analyzed using spss and P value less than 0.05 considered statistically significant. Results: At baseline the results showed that insulin resistance and lipid profile no significant differences between the study groups. Insulin resistance in C group compare to o, e and OE groups was reduced significantly (P<0.01). also, lipid profile was improved significantly except HDl in experimental group. Conclusion: The results show that regular aerobic exercise without the use of chemical drugs lead to weight loss is desirable changes in insulin resistance and Improvement of lipid profile.

Aim: RBP4 is an adipokin that participates in insulin function and glucose metabolism. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of aerobic training on serum RBP4 levels and insulin resistance index in type 2 diabetic male rats. Method: Eighteen male 8-week-old wistar rats (233.6±13.1 g) were selected as sample research. Diabetes was induced by using nikotinamid and streptozotocin. Five days after inducing diabetes, fasting blood was measured using blood glucose strips and rats that the level of fasting blood glucose was between 400-126 mg was selected as diabetic. Rats were randomly and According to homogenization of body weight assigned into two groups including control (n=9) and trained (n=9).Rats in the training groups carried out an 8-week exercise program on a motorized treadmill with 10–25 m/min for 15-40 min/day and a 5% slope for 5 days. Serum RBP4 levels was measured with Elisa method and insulin resistance was measured by HOMA-IR index. Results: Induction of diabetes caused a significant increase in body weight (p=0.001) and serum RBP4 (p<0.05). Also exercise caused a significant increase in muscle weight in the training group (p<0.05). Serum RBP4 levels after training significantly decreased in comparison with control groups (p<0.05). Also glucose, insulin and insulin resistance index were significantly decreased in the training group compared with the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: it seems that 8 weeks aerobic training with 60-80% vo2max can be effective to decrease the serum RBP4 levels and insulin resistance index in type 2 diabetic patients.

Aim: Retinol binding protein-4 (RBP-4) as an adipokine secreted from adipose tissue, plays an important role in insulin resistance and metabolic disorders. Despite the benefits of aerobic training on metabolic disorders, the effect of aerobic training on RBP-4 and its relation with metabolic factors in patients with metabolic syndrome is unclear. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks aerobic training on serum RBP-4 levels and insulin resistance in women with metabolic syndrome. Methods: In a semi-experimental study, 24 women with metabolic syndrome (age: 52.79±4.91 yrs, BMI: 32.77±2.37 Kg/m2 and VO2peak: 40±2.55 L/min) were randomly assigned into two groups including exercise (n=12) and control (n=12) groups. Aerobic exercise program was performed for 8 weeks, 3 sessions per week with an intensity of 50-60% of peak oxygen consumption for 20-40 minutes. Prior to the experimental period and 48h after last training session, body composition measurements were performed and blood samples were taken to be measured for serum levels of RBP-4, lipid profile, glucose and insulin. Insulin resistance index was also assessed. The data were analyzed using statistical tests of Paired and Independent t-test and Pearson's correlation test at significance level of PResults: The results showed that aerobic training significantly decreased serum RBP-4, glucose, insulin resistance index, body weight, body fat percentage, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference and metabolic syndrome Z score (P<0.05). Moreover, high density lipoprotein HDL - C levels significantly increased following eight weeks aerobic training (P<0.05). Pearson's correlation test revealed that changes in RBP-4 levels was significantly correlated with changes in body fat percentage, triglycerides, insulin and insulin resistance index (P<0.05). Conclusion: Overall, the results of this study indicated that aerobic training can reduce the RBP-4 levels and improve insulin resistance and some metabolic risk factors in women with metabolic syndrome. Insulin resistance improvement is likely to be resulted from decreased RBP-4 levels following aerobic training.

Aim: Appetite is a subjective concept to describe control of food intake, and is under control of brain and hormones like active ghrelin. Ever-increasing incidence of obesity and related multiple psychological and physiological problems converted it into a global epidemic, while sedentariness is considered as one of the main obesity-causing factors. Chemerin is a new adipokine that its serum level increases in obese patients. The purpose of this study was to survey effect of twelve weeks aerobic training on chemerin, active ghrelin, and appetite in sedentary obese men.
Method: In a semi-experimental study, twentyone sedentary obese men were randomly placed in two groups: aerobic training (n=10, 27.8±3.2 yr, 93.5±7.1 kg, 31.7±3.4%, 32.0±3.5 kg/m2) and control group (n=11, 26.7±2.6 yr, 92.9±6.3 kg, 31.4±3.2 %, 32.3±2.8 kg/m2). Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of aerobic exercise on leptin and testosterone in obese boys’ serum at different pubertal stages. Method: The cross-sectional study had a pre-test- post-test design. The subjects included 36 obese boys aged 12 to 17 years, who according to the Tanner index, were in the stage of puberty of TS2 to TS5. The subjects were divided in to two groups, TS2, 3 (n=19, age: 13.4±0.94 years, Weight: 76.61±16.7 kg, BMI: 29.41±5.22 kg/m2) and TS4, 5 (n=17, age: 14.9±1.48 years, Weight: 93.57±16.48 kg, BMI: 30.92±3.88 kg/m2), each divided into aerobic exercise and control groups. After anthropometric measurements, fasting serum’s leptin and testosterone levels were measured. The aerobic exercise group completed 12 weeks of running, three times a week 30 minutes on average with an intensity of 60 to 85 percent of maximum heart rate. A pedometer was used to measure the level of physical activity and N4 software was used for measurement of energy intake. The statistical t-test, one-way and two-way ANOVA was used to analyze the data. Results: Lean body mass increased and body fat percent decreased significantly in aerobic exercise group at both stages of puberty (P≤0.05). In aerobic exercise group decrease in BMI and body fat, was only significant in TS4, 5 (P≤0.05). serum leptin levels decreased at different stages of puberty and was at only significant in aerobic exercise group (P≤0.05); but its changes in aerobic exercise and control groups at each stage of puberty wasn’t significant. Analysis of variance showed that puberty affects leptin changes (P≤0.05) but there was no significant difference between the effect of aerobic exercise on leptin decrease and changes in testosterone in both groups (TS4, 5 and TS2, 3 ) Conclusion: The results indicated that aerobic exercise in obese adolescent boys can lead to favorable changes in body composition, along with decreased serum’s leptin. However, part of these changes result from the normal maturation process that can lead to different responses to aerobic training, though due to the low number of subjects showing it about serum’s leptin, was not possible.

Aim: The purpose of this study is to compare the effect of high intensity interval training (HIIT) and aerobic training (AT) on PGC-1α gene expression in the soleus muscle of healthy adult male rats. Method: 18 Wistar male rats were divided into three groups: HIIT (n=6), AT (n=6) and the control group (n=6). After 2 weeks of adaptation, the exercise protocol started and lasted for 8 weeks. The HIIT protocol was a 6 minute warm-up (50%-60% VO2max), 3 frequencies ( 4 minutes on 90%-100% VO2max and 2 minutes on 50%-60% VO2max) and 6 minutes of cooling down on 60-50% of VO2max and AT protocol was a 6 minute warm-up ( 50%-60% VO2max), main body which lasted for 30 minutes (70%-75% VO2max) and 6 minutes of cooling down ( 50%-60% VO2max). 24 hours after the last workout session, muscle samples were extracted and the expression level of the mentioned variable was measured by RT-PCR. Results: The results marked that PGC-1α gene expression was increased significantly (P≤0.05) after 8 weeks of HIIT and AT, and there were no remarkable differences between the types of exercise. Conclusion: Based on these findings, HIIT and AT have almost the same impact on increasing the muscle PGC-1α gene expression in rats’ soleus muscle.

Abstract
Aim: Apelin is an adipokine that is closely related with insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. In this study, the effect of an aerobic exercise training program was investigated on plasma apelin levels in overweight healthy women.
Method: Eighteen healthy women were selected as subjects and were randomly divided into two exercise (n=9 aged 45±6.22 yrs, BMI 26.17±2.61 kg/m2) and control (n=9 aged 42.88±3.14 yrs, BMI 27.14±2.58 kg/m2) groups. Subjects in the exercise group performed 8 weeks running and walking exercise training 3 days a week at intensity corresponding to 60-70% HRmax. Before and after exercise training, body fat percentage, body mass index (BMI), waist to hip ratio (WHR) and plasma levels of apelin, insulin and glucose and HOMA-IR after a 12-hr fasting was measured.
Results: No significant changes were observed in apelin, insulin, glucose and plasma levels and also HOMA-IR in two groups comparing to pre-test and between groups.
Conclusion: It seems that low to moderate intensity exercise training or decrease of fat mass cannot have significant effects on the amount of blood apelin and insulin resistance in overweight healthy women, though apelin levels may change with changes in insulin levels or insulin resistance index.
