Aim: Adipokines are molecules secreted from adipose tissue that are related to insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, the effect of 8 weeks of resistance training along with green tea extract (GTE) supplementation on the concentration of adipokines apelin and chemerin in obese women was investigated.Method: Thirty untrained women with a body mass index (BMI) above 30 kg/m2 were selected from among obese women using a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled design method and were divided into three groups including training and green tea extract (GT), training and placebo consumption (PT) and green tea extract consumption (G). GT and G groups took 600 mg.kg-1 of GTE daily and PT group also took 600 mg of placebo for 8 weeks. The resistance training program consisted of 3 sessions per week for 8 weeks (60-70 minutes with an intensity of 65% to 80% of a one repetition maximum). Serum level of adipokines was measured using ELISA method.Results: The results of ANOVA with repeated measures indicate a significant decrease in serum levels of apelin and chemerin in GT and PT groups compared to G. Also, a significant decrease in the level of these adipokines was observed in the post-test compared to the pre-test in all three groups. Conclusion: 8 weeks of GTE intake and resistance training decreased inflammatory adipokines in obese women, and the combinatory effect of resistance training with GTE was more effective than the other two conditions.

Introduction: Alzheimer's is a destructive brain disease that causes progressive cognitive disorders for which there is no cure. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of aerobic exercise along with the consumption of saffron extract on spatial memory and the amount of tau protein accumulation in the hippocampal tissue of Alzheimer's induced male rats.Method: In this experimental study, 32 adult male rats were randomly divided into 4 Alzheimer's groups including control, aerobic exercise, aerobic exercise, extract and extract. Aerobic exercises including 3 training sessions per week were performed for 8 weeks. Y maze test was used to check spatial memory and ELISA method was used to measure tau protein. One-way analysis of variance was used to analyze the data.Findings: The results showed that after 8 weeks of aerobic training with saffron supplement, there was a significant increase in spatial memory performance in the intervention groups compared to the control group (P < 0.5). Also, regarding the amount of tau protein accumulation in the aerobic exercise group, aerobic exercise and extract showed a significant decrease compared to the control group (P < 0.5).Conclusion: It seems that aerobic exercise and consumption of saffron extract improves spatial memory performance and reduces the accumulation of tau protein in the hippocampal tissue of Alzheimer's male rats.

Aim: This study aimed to examine the effect of aerobic exercise with and without BFR on blood lactate, cortisol and PGC-1α response in human skeletal muscle.
Method: On two different occasions, five healthy untrained male subjects (mean±SE; age: 33.4±1.02 years, height: 173.9±4.02 cm, body mass: 79.64±4.69 kg), were required to perform (i) a BFR aerobic exercise at an exercise intensity of 40 % of VO2max; and (ii) similar exercise bouts without BFR (Ctrl). For each condition, baseline and 3 h post-exercise muscle biopsy samples (vastus lateralis) were performed for PGC-1α protein expression analysis. Venous blood samples were also collected at pre-exercise, immediately and 2 h post-exercise to measure changes in blood lactate and serum cortisol.
Results: PGC-1α protein content was significantly higher (P < 0.05) at 3-h post-exercise with BFR compared with Ctrl. Blood lactate and serum cortisol did not significantly change from baseline to immediately after exercise and at 2-h post exercise.
Conclusion: Metabolic stimuli are not a mechanism to mediate cell signaling network responsible for mitochondrial biogenesis. However, the addition of blood flow restriction during aerobic exercise induces an increase in PGC-1α to regulate mitochondrial biogenesis.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and curcumin supplementation on cardiac heat shock proteins level and gene expression level of microRNAs in rats exposed to arsenic.Methods: 32 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups of Control, Curcumin, Exercise and concomitant(Curcumin+Exercise). Arsenic 5 mg/kg.day and curcumin 15 mg/kg.day, were consumed orally for entire the study period. HIIT were conducted for six weeks (5 d/w, 60 min/session (consisted of 10 intervals of running (4 min) at 85-90% of Vo2max with 2 min recovery at 50-60% of Vo2max). Tissue protein content and gene expression levels was assessed by Western blotting and PCR methods respectively. Results: No between group difference was observed for gene expression levels of miR-21(P>0.05).The cardiac HSP60, HSP20 levels and the gene expression levels of miR-30 was significantly higher in all three intervention groups compared to Control group(P<0.001). Moreover, the cardiac HSP60, HSP20 content was significantly higher in concomitant group compared to both groups of Exercise and Curcumin(P<0.05). Conclusion: Arsenic exposure may likely increase the vulnerability of cardiomyocytes to injury by altering the amount of heat shock proteins content and the expression levels of microRNAs. Both HIIT and curcumin supplementation could be likely effective to reduce the hazards of arsenic within heart, However, the concomitant intervention might be had more beneficial effects. However, more research is still needed to be done due to the lack of similar evidence and no comprehensive measurement of the influential factors.

Performing sports activities along with the consumption of herbal supplements, especially in people, have different effects on the body's antioxidant and oxidant systems. The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of intense interval training with chlorella supplementation on serum levels of malondialdehyde and total antioxidant capacity in obese or overweight middle-aged women. The statistical population of the present study consisted of overweight or obese middle-aged women (BMI ≤ 25) with an age range of 40 to 65 years. A number of 40 subjects were selected by invitation and based on the study entry criteria and randomly divided into four groups: exercise and supplement (10 people), exercise and placebo (10 people), supplement (10 people) and control (10 people). became HIIT exercises consisted of periods of 60 seconds of maximum intensity running (85-95% of the reserve heart rate) followed by 60 seconds of low-intensity running (55-60% of the reserve heart rate). The subjects did 6 times in the first week, 8 times in the second week. they completed the third to fifth weeks 10 times and the sixth to eighth weeks with 12 repetitions. Shapiro-Wilk test for normality of data and correlated t-test, one-way analysis of variance and Tukey's post hoc test to test hypotheses was used and the significant level was considered at the alpha level of 5%.

Method: In this study, 36 men with type 2 diabetes (age 53.08±5.15 years, wight 78.08±6.53kg and BMI 26.22±1.2218 kg/square meters) were selected and were randomly divided into four groups (Control-Water, Control-Momordica charantia, Control-Training and Momordica charantia+Training). The training groups participated in a progressive aerobic training for eight weeks, three sessions a week (running with 40% to 70% of the reserved heart rate and for 15 to 45 min). The groups of Control-Momordica charantia and Momordica charantia+Training were provided 2000 mg of Momordica charantia (In 500 mg capsules) for eight weeks (Twice a day before breakfast and dinner). Two days before and after the protocol, blood samples were taken in fasting state.
Results: The results showed that the GLP-1 I and GIP Increased significantly in all experimental group compared to the control group. (Respectively p=0.000 and p=0.000), Also a significant increase in GLP-1 in Momordica charantia+Training compared to the Momordica charantia and GLP-1 in Momordica charantia+Training compared to the Momordica charantia and Training. Other results showed a significant increase in GLP-1 and GIP in all experimental groups compared to pre-tes (p≤0.05).
Conclusion: It seems that aerobic training and Momordica charantia and combination of both, It improves the factors affecting glycemic control in men with type 2 diabetes.

Aim: Taurine is an antioxidant supplement. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of short-term supplementation of two different dosages of taurine supplement on responses of some salivary antioxidant parameters of young men after an exhaustive aerobic activity. Methodology: Eight healthy non-athlete men (mean ± SD age 21.6 ± 1.7 yrs and VO2 max 62.62 ± 62.2 ml / kg / min) were randomly divided into two categories (3 Vs. 6 Gr/d) in two 7-day periods in the complement of taurine as cross-over, randomized and double-blinded. Saliva samples were collected in three occasions: before and after the supplementation period and immediately after exhaustive aerobic exercise. The subjects started the exhausting aerobic activity on ergometer was performed at 60 RMP and 20 watts, with, 20 watts added to the intensity every minute until the subject got exhausted. Results: The results showed that the SOD, after supplementation (in doses of 6 grams more than the dose of 3 g) and after exercise increased significantly compared with the pre-supplementation in both doeses (p < 0.05). The activity level of POX and DPPH increased with supplementation and activity, but there was no significant difference between the two doses. Conclusion: According to the research findings, it can be concluded that the short-term consumption of taurine supplementation by increasing antioxidant capacity will reduce the negative effects of free radicals as a result of intense aerobic exercise activities.

Aim: Obesity is one of the most serious health problems associated with inflammation. Physical activity is one of the many factors that affect obesity and inflammation. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of six weeks of resistance training and high intensity functional training cross-fit on serum vaspin levels in obese women. Methods: The research method was quasi-experimental with pre-test-post-test design. Thirty six obese women of Semnan (age: 32.66 ± 3.91, weight: 86.97± 9.08 and BMI> 30) were selected as available and divided into three groups of high intensity functional resistance training (HIIF), Circular resistance training and control group (n = 12). The total training period consisted of 6 weeks and 3 sessions per week and each session was about 60 minutes. Serum levels of vaspin were avaluated befor and after the last training session. Results: Serum vaspin levels did not change significantly in the circular resistance training group (P=0.876) and Crossfit training group (P=0.837). But the body mass index was significantly decreased in the circular resistance training group (P=0.001) and the Crossfit training group (P=0.006). Conclusions: Circuit resistance training and Crossfit reduce the body mass of obese women, but they do not have a significant effect on the serum level of vaspin. It is suggested to use circular resistance exercises and HIFT with a longer duration for a better effect.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of sprint interval training on hippocampal oxidative stress markers hippocampus of adult male Wistar rats.Method: This is an experimental study in which 16 male Wistar rats were obtained, and after environmental adaptation and reaching target weight range randomly divided into two equal groups: control (CO) and sprint interval training (SIT). The SIT was performed for 8 weeks, 3 sessions per week, 4-9 repetitions of 10 seconds with 60 secs of active recovery between intervals. Forty-eight hours after the last exercise session the rats were anesthetized and the hippocampus was dissected and level of malondialdehyde (MDA) and superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) were assessed in hippocampus homogenate. The independent samples T test was used for data analysis (P<0.05).Results: There were no significant difference between the SIT and CO groups in the hippocampal GPx, TAC and MDA levels (p < 0.05). However, the activity level of SOD in the SIT group was significantly higher than the CO group (p<0.05).Conclusion: The present research revealed that despite its strenuous nature, SIT did not induce oxidative stress in the hippocampus and trend of changes in GPx and TAC, as well as observed significant increase in SOD activity levels suggests that it may have favorable effects on hippocampus oxidative- antioxidative status.

Aim: Unfavorable changes occur in the body composition and lipoprotein that are related to the loss of estrogen levels after menopause. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of 12 weeks elastic band resistance training on mir-217 expression and cardiovascular risk factors in menopausal obese elderly women. Method: In this single blind randomized clinical trial (RCT), 49 elderly women with obesity (age 64.13 ± 3.68 years, fat percentage 45.4 ± 6.56 %, BMI 33. 1 ± 3.71 kg/m2) were divided into two groups: control (n=10) and training (n = 14). The training group performed elastic band resistance training for 12 weeks and three sessions per week for all major muscle groups. Forty eight hours before and after 12 weeks of intervention, a DEXA test was performed. Results: The results of the intergroup comparisons indicated a significant decrease in mir-217 expression and LDL levels and a significant increase in HDL in the training group compared to the control group (P≤0.05), whereas there was no significant difference in body weight, body mass index, fat percentage, total cholesterol and CRP (P≥0.05). Conclusion: It seems that 12 weeks elastic band resistance training have been able to modulate and reduce the serum concentration of mir-217 in obese elderly women, which was associated with a decrease in LDL levels and increase levels of HDL. Although body mass index, fat percentage, total cholesterol and CRP Significant changes were not observed, which requires further investigation in this field.

Aim: Dietary supplementation with inorganic nitrate (NO3‒) may enhance exercise performance by improving skeletal muscle contractility and metabolism. CrossFit also, is recognized as a new method improves exercise performance but the interaction effects of nitrate supplements and CrossFitt on exercise performance are not well known. The present study was done to examine the interaction effects CrossFit training and beetroot juice on exercise performances in middle age inactive men.Methods: In this quasi study, twenty inactive men (aged 21-30 years old), were randomly divided into beetroot juice + CrossFitt group (n = 10) or placebo + CrossFitt group (n = 10). All participants were performed CrossFit training 3 days a week for 8 weeks. At the end week of the intervention, supplement group received 140 mL beetroot juice containing about 800 mg of NO3‒ per day. Exercise performances were evaluated before and after the intervention.Results: The results demonstrated that sprint, anaerobic power and vertical jump test were improved in the both groups (P<0.05), however no significant differences were observed between two groups. Peak aerobic power was increased in the both groups (P<0.05), while the increase of peak aerobic power was higher in the supplement group compare to the placebo group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Generally, we can conclude that CrossFit training caused improves exercise performance but the interaction of beetroot juice and CrossFit cannot enhance these performances.

Aim: Heart performance declines with age and obesity. Aging and obesity a major risk factor toward the development of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). The aging heart undergoes several changes at the molecular, cellular and physiological levels, which diminishes its contractile function. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of aerobic training and omega-3 on atrophy indices in the cardiomyocytes of elderly HFD rats. Methods: In this experimental study, 40 male Wistar rats (mean weight 148.82±18.24) were divided into 5 groups: Normal Diet (ND), High-Fat Diet (HFD), High-Fat Diet-Training (HFDT), High-Fat Diet-Omega3 (HFDω3) and High-Fat Diet-Training-Omega3 (HFDTω3). The supplement groups received 1 g of Omega3 (per kg of body weight) orally during the intervention period. Aerobic exercise program including running on treadmill with an intensity of 50-60% oxygen consumption (VO2max), was performed 5 days a week for eight weeks. Data were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance and Tukey post hoc test at the P<0.05. Results: Significant decrease were seen in FoxO3a, MAFbx, and MuRF1 gene expression levels in HFDT (p=0.039, p=0.016, and p=0.043, respectively), HFDω3 (p=0.035, p=0.044, p=0.030, respectively), and HFDTω3 (p=0.0001, p=0.0001 and p=0.0001 respectively). Also, a significant decrease in FoxO3a expression was observed in the HFDTω3 group compared to HFDT (P=0.040) and HFDω3 (P=0.045). Conclusion: Aerobic training and omega-3 protected against HFD-induced cardiac atrophy in elderly rats, however, the combined effect of aerobic exercise and omega-3 was better.

Diabetes is the most common endocrine disease in the world, and various methods such as exercise and physical activity are used to treat it. the aim of this study was to determine the effect of high-intensity interval training on serum glucose, insulin ,irisin and its gene expression in subcutaneous adipose tissue in type 2 diabetic rats. For this study, 20 males of the wistar male rat (8-10 weeks with a weight of 250-270 g) were selected and randomly divided into two groups of diabetic control and diabetic exercise. After the introductory course, the experimental group performed high-intensity exercise for 4 weeks, 5 days a week for 10 minutes as 1-minute interval at a speed of 30-40 meters per second. 48 hours after the last training session and after 12 hours of fasting, glucose and insulin values serum values and expression of irisin gene were measured in subcutaneous adipose tissue. Data were analyzed using independent t-test. The results showed that 4 weeks of high-intensity interval training reduced serum glucose levels and insulin resistance index (p = 0.001), significantly increased serum values (p = 0.001) and expressed irisin gene (P = 0.004) in subcutaneous adipose tissue was controlled in the exercise group compared to the group.High-intensity interval training can reduce serum glucose levels and insulin resistance index in type 2 diabetic rats and increase serum levels and irisin gene expression in adipose tissue. it is suggested to use this type of exercises to reduce the problems caused by type 2 diabetes.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of different doses of acute consumption of beetroot juice on anaerobic performance in trained individuals.Methodology: In a randomized (purposive and accessible) cross-over, double-blind, placebo-controlled experimental design, 9 subjects who were physically active for at least 150 minutes per week and for at least 6 months (age: 20.44±1.33 years, body mass index: 20.55±3.27 kg/m) volunteered to participate in the protocol during 3 weeks in a single session. 2 hours after consuming 70 mL or 140 mL of beetroot juice or 70 mL of placebo, participants completed the anaerobic power test based on running, Sargent jump test, Illinois agility test and the 36-meter speed test with a 10-minute rest interval. Findings: The results of data analysis showed that acute consumption of 70- and 140-ml doses of beet juice had no significant effect on anaerobic power, peak power, average power, minimum power, relative peak power, anaerobic capacity, fatigue index. In addition, acute consumption of 70 and 140 ml of beetroot juice did not have a significant effect on the speed, agility and explosive power of trained people.Conclusion: The results showed that the acute consumption of 70- and 140-ml doses of beet juice does not create any functional advantage for anaerobic power and its components, agility, speed and explosive power in trained people.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of eight weeks of aerobic or resistance training on the serum levels of NF-kB, lipid profile, fasting blood sugar, and insulin resistance index in type2 diabetic women. Method: Participants were 45 volunteer women with type 2 diabetes who randomly assigned into three groups of 15: aerobic, resistance, and control. The exercises performed three times a week for eight weeks. The resistance training consisted of 8-12 repetitions with 60-70% of 1RM, and the aerobic training consisted of 30-50 minutes of running on the treadmill with 65-75% of maximum heart rate. Before and after the intervention, the levels of NF-kB, lipid profile, blood glucose and insulin resistance index were measured. Results: Eight weeks of aerobic and resistance training had no significant effect on NF-kB levels. However, both training methods significantly reduced the insulin resistance index, fasting blood glucose, LDL levels, and increased HDL levels. The levels of triglycerides were significantly reduced only after the aerobic training. There was no significant difference between the effectiveness of aerobic and resistance training in improvements of the insulin resistance index, blood glucose, LDL and HDL levels. Conclusion: Eight weeks of aerobic training with 65-75% of the maximum heart rate or resistance training with 60-70% of 1RM can lead to reducing insulin resistance and blood sugar level, and improvement of lipid profile in women with type 2 diabetes, without significant effect on NF-kB levels. There is no difference in positive effects of these training methods.

Background and Aim:The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of two types of intense training on the levels of thioredoxin reductase-1 enzyme and malondialdehyde in testicular tissue of male wistar rats.Material and method:19 male Wistar rats,8weeks old and weighing200± 5g, after10 sessions of introducing training protocols and after weighing, were randomly divided into3groups(control, intense endurance training, intense training).Intense endurance training protocol included running on a treadmill for8 weeks and intense periodic training protocol included running on a rodent treadmill for 8 weeks. 48 hours after the last training session,the rats were anesthetized with ether and sacrificed and then the testicular tissue was isolated under sterile conditions.The amount of Thioredoxin Reductase-1 was determined by ELISA method and using a spectrophotometer and also the concentration of Malondialdehyde was determined by three Barbituric acid method using a spectrometer. One-way ANOVA with Tukey's post hoc test was used to analyze the data.Result:After8 weeks, the amount of Enzyme in the intense endurance training group and intense periodic training group increased significantly compared to the control group(P<0.05). Also,there was no significant change in the amount of Malondialdehyde in testicular tissue of the intense endurance training group and intense periodic training group compared to the control group(P>0.05).Conclusion: According to the results of this research,it can be said that intense endurance training and intense periodic training has increased the amount of thioredoxin reductase-1 enzyme in a testicular tissue and by creating adaptation in the body's antioxidant system, has not increased malondialdehyde.

Purpose: The present study was designed to investigate the effects of L-Arginine supplementation on fat and carbohydrate metabolism during high intensity interval exercise (HIIE) in overweight individuals. Methods: Ten male overweight students performed two HIIE trials including 10 intervals of 3 min encompassed 1 min running at 100% of vVO2max and 2 min active recovery at 40% of vVO2max. In each session subjects consumed either supplement or placebo 90 min prior to exercise. Before and after supplementation and immediately after exercise glucose, insulin, non-esterified free fatty acid (NEFA) and triglyceride were measured. Oxygen consumption and exhaled carbon dioxide were collected to calculate fat and carbohydrate oxidation. Results: There were no significant differences between two trials for glucose, insulin, NEFA, triglyceride and fat oxidation (P>0.05). However, carbohydrate oxidation rate was significantly different between two sessions (p < 0.05). In addition, glucose and carbohydrate oxidation were significantly increased following HIIE irrespective of L-Arginine supplementation (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Based on the findings of present study it could be concluded that L-Arginine supplementation leads to increases in carbohydrate oxidation during HIIE in overweight men, but has no effect on resting at metabolism.

Aim: The effect of exercises that consist of a set of mental and physical exercise has received less attention on reducing appetite and obesity. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of hatha yoga training on Nesfatin-1 as an inhibitory factor on appetite and a regulator of energy balance, appetite and obesity indices in overweight women. Methods: In this semi-experimental study, 24 women aged 35-45 years (with a mean BMI of 28.94 ± 3.62 kg/m2) were randomly divided into two exercise (n=12), and control(n=12) groups. The exercise group participated in hatha yoga training for eight weeks and the control group continued their daily activities. Blood sampling (serum nesfatin-1) and measurement of appetite (desire to eat, satiety, fullness and hunger) and obesity (BMI, waist-to-hip ratio (W/H ), fat percentage) indicators were performed twice, before exercise and 48 hours after exercise in subjects' luteal phase. Data analysis was done by paired t-tests, ANCOVA and Pearson's correlation coefficient and using SPSS23 software.Results: In the exercise group, nesfatin-1 increased significantly (p=0.001). The hunger and desire to eat decreased significantly, the satiety and fullness increased significantly (p<0.05). Obesity indicators showed a small but significant decrease (p<0.05). A positive and significant relationship was found between the reduction of hunger and obesity indicators (BMI, W/H and fat percentage), as well as the reduction of appetite, BMI and fat percentage(p<0.05).Conclusions: Mild physical and mental exercises such as Hatha Yoga can be useful in reducing the weight of obese women through appetite control.

Purpose: Myostatin, its inhibitor follistatin have been proposed as factors that could potentially modify biological aging. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of 12 weeks elastic-band resistance training on myostatin, follistatin levels in elderly women with osteosarcopenic obesity. Methodology: In this randomized, single blind randomized clinical trial, 48 elderly women with osteosarcopenic obesity (based on the results of the DEXA test, age 64.63 ± 3.68 (years), fat percentage 45.4 ± 6.6 (%), BMI 33.1 ± 3.71 (kg/m2), T score of bone minerals density of femur and 1-4 lumbar spine -1.86 ± 1.42) were randomly divided to control (n = 22) and exercise (n = 26). The training group performed 12 weeks and three sessions a week elastic-band resistance training for all major muscle groups. 48 hours before and after 12 weeks of intervention, blood sampling intervention was performed. Paired-sample t-test was used for intra-group comparisons and Ancova was used for comparison between groups. Results: The between groups comparison showed the a mount of significant difference in Follistatin (P=0.002) in training group, weight (P = 0.001), fat percentage (P = 0.001) increased and the ratio of follystatin to myostatin (P = 0.018) decreasedsignificantly.incontrol groups. However, there were no significant difference in body mass index (P = 0.054), myostatin (P=0.095) between groups. Conclusion: Resistance training with elastic band seems to be an appropriate exercise strategy that can improve body composition and muscle mass in elderly people with osteosarcopenic obesity by modulating follistatin and myostatin levels.

purpose: One of the new training methods to increase the performance of athletes is ischemic preconditioning (IPC). the aim of the present study was the effect of ischemic preconditioning and beetroot supplementation on anaerobic performance of male cyclists. method: 12 male cyclists participated in a randomized study with a crossover design. The tests of maximum power output and one kilometer cycling time trial were evaluated in the same laboratory conditions. All subjects consumed 60 grams of beetroot supplement and placebo for one week. There was a 7-day washout period between the two supplement and placebo periods.maximum power output and one kilometer time trial tests were performed along with the ischemic preconditioning method. Ischemic preconditioning for all subjects, including 4 periods of 5 minutes of occlusion and reperfusion using a cuff with a width of 15 cm and a pressure of 220 mmHg applied to the uppermost part of the legs. Shapiro-wilk test and repeated measurement were used to check the data. Findings: Ischemic preconditioning significantly increased maximum power compared to control (P=0.027). Although after taking red beet supplement and ischemic preconditioning, the maximum power output was higher than the control condition, but no statistically difference was observed (P=0.09). The time trial of one kilometer after ischemic preconditioning (P=0.014) and also after consumption of beetroot supplement along with ischemic preconditioning was significantly lower than the control condition (P=0.008). Conclusion: ischemic preconditioning and beetroot supplementation can improve anaerobic performance in adult male cyclists

Objective: Aerobic training and Saffron has decreasing effects on apoptosis induced by exercise to exhaustion. The present study aims to investigate the Interactive effect of aerobic training with Saffron extract on BAX and Bcl2 proteins of cardiac tissue in trained rats following an aerobic exercise until exhaustion. Methods: This is a clinical trial, 48 Wistar male rats were assigned into following four groups (N=12): control )C) , Saffron extract) SE) , Aerobic training (AT) , Aerobic training + Saffron extract (AT+SE). Aerobic training was done for five times a week for 8 weeks. Saffron extract was administrated through oral gavage 100 mg.kg-1.day-1. The end of experiment, half of the rats was killed immediately before exhaustive training; on the other hand, remaining rats were killed immediately after performing an acute bout of exhaustive exercise on the treadmill. BAX and Bcl2 proteins levels were measured by ELISA method. The data were analyzed using a one-way ANOVA, with the significance level of P < 0.05. Results: following an exhausting BAX and Bcl2 proteins of cardiac tissue in the all groups Except in the AT+SE group were significantly increased and decreased respectively (P < 0.05). Conclusion: It seems that aerobic training and use of saffron extract Each one alone or in combination with each other prevented the significant change of Bax and Bcl2 proteins and BAX/Bcl-2 ratio following an exhausting exercise.

Aim: Diabetes leads to extensive cardiac fibrosis, which worsens as disease progresses, culminating in diabetic cardiomyopathy. In this study, we investigated the effect of aerobic exercise (AT) and berberine chloride (BR) on the expression of TGF-β/Smad4 heart tissue in diabetic rats.Methods: In this experimental study, 32 male Wistar rats (276/09±17.03, 10 weeks old) were randomly divided into four groups (n=8): Diabetes (DM), Diabetes-Berberine (BRDM), Diabetes-Aerobic Training (ATDM), Diabetes-Aerobic Training-Berberine (ATBRDM). Diabetes was induced by injection of streptozotocin. Training groups have performed a progressive aerobic running program (at 10-18 m/min, 10-40 min/day, and 5 days/week) on a motor-driven treadmill for six weeks. Berberine chloride (30 mg/kg/day) were administered orally, by gavage, once a day. At the end of six weeks-- heart tissue samples were collected. TGF-β and Smad4 gene expression levels were measured by real-time PCR. Data were analyzed using ANOVA at p<0.05.Results: The results showed that AT, BR and AT-BR combination in diabetic rats significantly decreased TGF-β (p = 0. 0001)) and Smad4 (p = 0. 0001) in heart tissue. Also, a significant decreased the amount of this index was observed in the ATBRDM compared to the BRDM and ATDM groups (p <0.05).Conclusions: AT and BR by improving heart tissue fibrosis markers is an effective strategy to improve cardiac fibrosis in diabetic rats with STZ. In addition, AT and BR supplementation showed a protective cardioprotective effect of reducing cardiac fibrosis markers.

Purpose: The present study aimed to determine 2 months of combined exercise training on the expression of PERK and IRE1α genes in Wistar male rats' Vastus lateralis muscle.Method: The present study was conducted in a three-group experimental design with control group. 35 male Wistar rats were randomly assigned to four groups of control, endurance, strength, and endurance-strength and In addition to the control group, the next three groups participated in exercise exercises for two months. 48 hours after the last training session, and expression of PERK and IRE1α genes of Wistar male rats evaluated by Real Time-PCR. Data were analyzed using one way ANOVA at a significant level of P <0.05.Results: The results of this study showed that, after two months of endurance training, expression of IRE1α and PERK genes were significantly increased compared to the control group. Resistance training group did not have any effect on IRE1α gene expression but increased expression of PERK gene compared to control group. Also, the combined exercise group did not differ in the expression of IRE1α gene compared to the control group but increased the expression of PERK gene compared to the control group.

The purpose of the present study was to examine the effect of eight weeks moderate-intensity endurance training on hypocampic brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and tyrosine kinase B (TrkB) receptor gene expression in the rats with hippocampal degeneration model. In this experiment, twenty four mature Sprague-dawley male rats were subjected to Alzheimer’s disease through intraperitoneally injection of 8 mg/kg Trimethytin (TMT) and then were divided into (1) Alzheimer-infected control group, (2) endurance training, and (3) sham to study the impact of the disease on the variables. Sixteen healthy rats were assigned to the control group that eight rats sacrifice at first week and eight rats sacrifice at last week. The rats in the endurance training group ran on a rat treadmill with the speed of 15 to 20 meters per minute for 15 to 30 minutes in each session, 3 times a week for 8 weeks. To analyze the results of the tests, one-way ANOVA and Tukey post hoc test were run using SPSS The results revealed that induction of Alzheimer’s disease by TMT decreases the BDNF and TrkB receptor gene expression in rats. The results, also indicated that there were no significant differences in hypocampic BDNF and TrkB receptor gene expression between endurance training group and sham group. According to the study results, it seems that endurance training with specific intensity and duration utilized in this study had not significant effect on changes of hypocampic BDNF and TrkB receptor gene expression in the rats with hippocampal degeneration model.

Aim: The aim of present study is to evaluate the effects of ten weeks of aerobic exercise and consumption of safflower seed extract on PIK3R1gene expression and serum creatinine levels in male rats, after consuming Dexamethasone.Method: 25 male Wistar rats (371± 32 gr) were randomly divided into five groups including; control, dexamethasone, dexamethasone + safflower (500 mg/kg of body weight), dexamethasone + aerobic exercise (60 minutes, speed of 28m/min, 5 days a week), dexamethasone + safflower + aerobic exercise. Kidney damage was induced by subcutaneous injection of Dexamethasone (8 gr /kg of body weight) for 6 days. Results: Findings didn’t show a significant effect in the expression of PIK3R1 gene in different groups. Despite the observed changes in renal histology, dexamethasone caused insignificant changes in urea and uric acid. The results of this study showed that 10 weeks of consumption of safflower extract caused a significant decrease in urea and an insignificant increase in uric acid in mice with kidney damage. Also, 10 weeks of aerobic exercise significantly reduced urea, while causing an insignificant reduction in uric acid in mice with kidney damage. Despite changes in urea and uric acid, aerobic exercise and safflower extract can improve kidney damage.Conclusion: It seems that 10 weeks of aerobic exercise and consumption of safflower seed extract can be effective in improving kidney injury but the interveners in this study could not alter the expression of the PIK3R1 gene.
